One of the unique things about the modality of Focusing is the Felt Sense.
This week I’ve loaded some videos of different people talking about it: Gene Gendlin, Ann Weiser Cornell, and Ed and Pete (Biospirituality).
There are also a few different handouts.
I find it interesting to need so many words to describe what cannot be put into words. And yet, reading/listening to how seasoned practitioners speak of it can be helpful for your growing sense of helping to cultivate an environment where a FS is more likely to come forward and be noticed and nurtured.
This week, we’re touching on what we’ve already experienced - that the way we turn toward whatever comes matters! As Parker Palmer offers, our souls are like deers in the woods. If we want to see them we cannot go stomping through the underbrush calling them to come out.
The other thing Focusing holds is that change happens not by fixing, doing, strategizing, but by being/allowing the process of Life that wants to live to flow.
We have experienced this in our own Focusing and in Partnerships. This week we’ll talk more about ways to help foster this radical welcome in clients that are new to Focusing or are just beginning.
You'll be meeting once/month in a smaller group setting. This is a chance to get to know each other better and have more practice time in a supportive setting.
But of course you can continue together if you'd like!
