"It is in the process of embracing our imperfections
that we find our truest gifts:
courage, compassion, and connection. . . .
When we can let go of what other people think
and [listen to our] own our [embodied] story, **
we gain access to our worthiness
—the feeling that we are enough just as we are
and that we are worthy of love and belonging.
When we spend a lifetime trying to distance ourselves
from the parts of our lives that don’t fit with who we think we’re supposed to be,
we stand outside of our story
and hustle for our worthiness by constantly performing, perfecting, pleasing, and proving. . . ."
**Brené Brown - The gifts of Imperfection -emphasis and brackets mine.

I really think this captures so much of what we're hoping to do here in Focusing. The key difference is - Brené encourages us to "let go of" - and, well, that is not easy to do. In fact, just recently, in a letter I received from hospice to help me process my grief after my dad died, they said something about you cannot let go of what you have not acknowledged.
And you've been learning not to let go of your stories - but to press into the whole embodied feel of them.
This is new to most of us.
This is brave for all of us.
And, this week, as you press into cultivating your Self@E.A.S.E., you'll be reminded that the only way we can keep doing this work is to continue cultivating being in our own strong True Self Presence. If we are "hustling" for our worthiness - grasping, clutching, wearing ourselves out, we're not in our Self@E.A.S.E. But from our Self@E.A.S.E. we can sit beside and be friendly toward all the hustling, trying to figure it out, angry, overwhelmed and sad parts of us!
What catches your attention from this Brené quote?
In what way do you sense it connects to your Focusing journey so far?
